Ideally finding health insurance in Texas would be a simple matter of signing up for the plan that is offered by your employer. This is by far the best and cheapest option. For millions of people this is exactly how they find health insurance. If your employer does offer health insurance you will almost certainly want to sign up for it. For the millions of people who don’t have an insurance plan through their employer things are more complicated. You are going to have to do some real research and compare all of the options that are available so that you can find the best health insurance option for your needs.

The first step when searching for Texas health insurance is to put some thought into what kind of medical services you use. If you visit the doctor once a year for a check up you will need a very different plan than somebody who has a chronic condition that requires regular treatment. Knowing how often you visit the doctor and what kind of treatments you need will help you pick out a policy. There are lot of different kinds of coverage that can be added onto a basic health insurance plan. Each one of these will of course cost a great deal of money. Obviously you don’t want to pay for things you will never use. However you really can’t afford to not have coverage that you need. This is why you need to think about what kind of medical services you use.

The next thing that you are going to have to decide on is how much you are going to pay out of your own pocket. All plans will require that you cover part of the cost yourself through deductibles and co-payments. The less you pay out of your own pocket the higher your premium is going to be. Therefore you will want to base your decision on how often you visit the doctor. If you are a healthy young adult who rarely sees a doctor you should take a high co-payment since the amount you save on premiums will make this more than worthwhile. On the other hand if you have a medical condition that requires regular visits to the doctor you will want to keep the amount you pay out of your pocket to a minimum.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition you will want to find out how that is covered by your new plan. Some plans won’t cover it at all, obviously this is not a good option. Other plans will require a waiting period before coverage begins for pre-existing conditions. Not ideal but it may be the only choice you have. Try to find a plan with the shortest waiting period possible. Other things that you will want to look at include making sure that there is a fair appeals policy that is reviewed by somebody outside the company and checking on the turnover rate of doctors on the plan.

The World Health Organization is on the brink of declaring the swine flu a global pandemic.

The A(H1N1) strain of the flu virus has spread across 64 countries. There are hundreds of cases confirmed in some countries out of North America which includes Australia, Chile, Japan, Spain, and Britain.

A growing concern is the high potential of occurrence in the Southern Hemisphere of the globe where winter is just setting in. There was also a case of an H1N1 strain which was non-responsive to the Tamiflu drug.

According to a medical expert who heads the investigation of WHO, the organization is looking for evidence in two of widespread transmission of the swine flu that is not just contracted from travelers, immediate contacts, or in schools. If they will have this kind of evidence, WHO will be forced to declare the alert to Level 6, the highest level.

The World Health Organization is also debating the new assessment guidelines for the declaration of the ultimate pandemic alert level. They are arguing that they might add a clarification that the virus of the flu is not very lethal. There have only been 117 recorded deaths because of the recently discovered flu strain.

Experts are also studying the possible severity scenarios in poor countries where there is widespread malnutrition or AIDS compared to healthy and wealthy nations.

There has been no reported case of the swine flu from Africa where there is very little efforts for monitoring since there are more serious health scenarios to attend to.

The United States have reported that the virus have affected people from all 50 states and have claimed 19 lives. Health Care Systems around the world are trying to combat H1N1, we are all keeping our fingers crossed!
